Dirty Dancing premiered almost 28 years ago. The movie was not supposed to be a hit, and no one was expecting it to be either. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey hated working with each other from their previous link in “Red Dawn”. An original main sponsor, Clearasil, chose to leave the movie when writer and producer Eleanor Bergstein refused to cut the movie’s abortion part. And the test screening was a disaster as well.
But despite these visible drawbacks, the movie gained lots of love and support. It was a success. It ended up having a worldwide gross of just under $214 million dollars and it also won an Oscar and multiple Grammys for its music. The soundtrack was on top of the charts and it won even Michael Jackson and Bruce Springsteen. Dirty Dancing is a really beloved film and it is quite clear that people still love it very much!
