It is often believed that horses always sleep while standing up. Well… it has become kind of a myth. So what is the reality? Horses do in fact sleep while standing up, but only when they need to be extra careful in the wild. As they are constantly targeted by predators, they find it easy to sleep while standing up. But they do not get enough sleep through this method.
However, these horses in the video below are absolutely comfortable when they sleep lying on the ground. As they are protected by this 320-acre horse retreat, they don’t mind lying on the ground, snoring and even farting after a heavy meal. This horse retreat is owned by Liz Mitten Ryan and she is happy enough to take care of these majestic creatures.
