Keyboardist Max Crook and Del Shannon wrote this song. It was acclaimed as an international hit at the time it was released. Now it falls on the list of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Many have gone on to make their cover of this incredible song, including The Beach Boys, The Beatles, and the iconic Elvis Presley.
